Jim’s employment law practice provides representation to small business owners. He has worked for small businesses and understands that complying with the ever-changing laws/regulations can be difficult to manage. He believes that every small business owner should be proactive to protect their business and not wait until an employment law issue occurs. His services are designed to provide small business owners with the knowledge/documentation to comply with federal and state laws and to identify issues before they turn into lawsuits. However, if necessary, Jim will be prepared to represent a small business should a lawsuit be filed against it.
Personal Injury
Jim’s personal injury practice is concerned with helping people who are hurt by no fault of their own. A typical accident victim may have been involved in a car wreck or attacked by a dog. These accidents never occur at a good time. Jim is experienced in representing accident victims in the greater Cincinnati area. He will work to achieve favorable settlements for personal injury victims before or after a lawsuit is filed. He helps guide clients through the entire process and if necessary will be prepared to fight for his client in front of a jury. His personal injury attorney fees are always on a “contingency fee basis” which means the fee is a percentage of the settlement. If there is no settlement or recovery, there is no attorney fee.
General Litigation
Jim’s general litigation practice is concerned with providing representation to people in a whole array of different legal disputes. These disputes could be anything from a collection case to a landlord/tenant issue to a business dispute. On many of these disputes, he has represented people on both sides of the issue. He will bring this experience to your case no matter if you are the one who has a claim or if a claim is being brought against you.
Background
Jim was raised in a suburban community in Cincinnati. While in high school and college, he worked for a small grocery store chain based out of the greater Tri-State area. He started as a bagger and worked his way through the ranks to become one of the organization’s youngest managers at the time.
Jim’s first legal job was as an extern for a federal judge in Cleveland. As an extern, Jim was exposed to a wide variety of cases and obtained an invaluable perspective of the inner workings of a judge’s courtroom. During his time as an extern, he began to develop an interest in employment law and litigation.
Jim also worked as a law clerk for a large Cleveland based firm. The firm handled a broad range of matters from commercial/business litigation to collections. He relocated back home to Cincinnati and continued clerking for the firm while awaiting his bar exam results.
After passing the bar exam, Jim received an associate attorney position in one of the larger personal injury firms in Cincinnati. He assisted injury victims in obtaining favorable settlements in and outside of court. He was also given the opportunity to conduct jury trials for injury victims in the Cincinnati area. He continued to expand his practical legal experience by assisting clients with other cases involving employment discrimination, life insurance claims, and landlord/tenant issues.
Education
Jim received his law degree from the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. He attended law school on a scholarship and graduated with honors, magna cum laude, in the top 20% of his class. He focused his law school studies on labor/employment law courses.
Jim received his Bachelor degree from the University of Cincinnati in Personnel and Industrial Relations. His major was primarily centered on psychology, business, and economics courses. He received Dean’s List honors and was the member of two honor societies.
