Commercial Litigation:
Richard’s commercial litigation practice provides representation to businesses both small and large. Having served as counsel to many Cincinnati area businesses and as local counsel for large out of state corporations, Richard has the requisite experience to serve businesses with first-rate counsel. Richard’s experience includes litigating for and against companies ranging in size from international Fortune 500 Companies to closely-held businesses, and has litigated in both state and federal courts. Understanding that litigation can be costly, Richard works with his clients to develop a strategic approach to ensure that that the businesses’ interests are well protected throughout the litigation process in a cost effective manner.
Consumer Litigation:
Richard represents individuals both against companies and other individuals, from simple disputes to fully developed law suits. Having litigated for both individuals and companies, Richard understands what is needed to be done to achieve the results his clients desire.
Business and Contract Law:
In his business practice, Richard focuses on business entity selection and formation including creating C-corporations, S-corporations, LLC’s and partnerships; and business representation including purchases and sales of businesses, liquor licenses, state and federal tax liability negotiation, and contractual matters.
Family Law:
Richard routinely helps families and individuals through divorce, custody, and child/spousal support issues. Having clerked for a local Domestic Relations Court judge, Richard is able to provide his clients insight from the court’s perspective, which assists in determining what the court’s decision may be in a given family law issue and further helps prepare his clients on every facet of family law litigation. Richard is a member of the Domestic Relations Committee and practices primarily in Butler, Clermont, Hamilton, and Warren Counties.
Real Estate Litigation:
Within his real estate litigation practice, Richard provides counsel to homeowners, condominium and landominium owners, and Homeowners’ Associations for disputes, foreclosures, and document review. Richard also prepares and reviews real estate contracts and leases, by-laws, and Homeowners’ Association documentation.
Background and Education:
Richard is a Cincinnati native and a graduate of St. Xavier High School. He received his bachelor’s degree cum laude in economics from Clemson University and his law degree from the University of Dayton School of Law, where he earned two academic scholarships and was a member of the Executive Board of the Student Bar Association. While in law school, Richard clerked for Judge Tim Oliver of Warren County Common Pleas Court and externed with Dinsmore and Shohl, LLP.
